It is given by a healthcare professional as an intravenous (IV) infusion every three weeks. The first infusion may take about an hour; if well tolerated, later infusions can be given in about 30 minutes.

Common side effects when used with chemotherapy include low white blood cell counts, anemia, low platelets, hair loss, nausea, loss of appetite, and thyroid problems. Serious immune-related side effects can occur. Contact your doctor immediately for symptoms such as breathing difficulty, liver problems, severe rash, or unexplained bleeding.
